“Widows of Culloden”, Autumn–Winter 2006–07
Lot 137 · 11 June 2024
Pleated tulle & broderie anglaise.
Fine pleats of tulle frame the neck. Below, a cotton jabot is finished with broderie anglaise: contrasting textures against the bold tartan.
Red-and-black tartan.
McQueen’s red-and-black tartan gives the dress its unmistakable presence. The catalogue places it in the Autumn–Winter 2006–07 “Widows of Culloden” collection.
Lace, tulle & structure.
Black lace interrupts the tartan at the hem, with gathered tulle finishing the underskirt. The lot also included an ivory silk corset and bustle pad.
The archive.
Lanvin, Poiret, Costin. Three pieces from past sales.
